Naturally found sugar that may help with hair growth

Scientists have discovered that a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body could be a link to combating male androgenetic hair loss. The sugar chemically known as 2-deoxy-D-ribose (2dDR) plays various roles in mammals.

The researchers believe that the sugar can boost blood supply to hair follicles to encourage hair growth. This new research was published in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology highlighting the study carried out on mice.

Researchers believe that this could potentially be used to treat hair loss associated with chemotherapy for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Although promising, caution is the key as this is a very early study done on mice that showed promising results.
